Class Descriptions
Some classes run for 3 or 4 consecutive weeks while others meet only once, please take note. All supplies are included in the price. Ages for classes are flexible within reason.
Note: This is a locked facility (Kemper Center) with the studio on the 4th floor. I will be at the door to let students in 10 minutes prior to class start time. At class start time we will make our way to the studio and doors will lock automatically.
Famous Artists I
Students will find inspiration from artists Claude Monet, Keith Haring and Charles McGee while using a variety of drawing and painting supplies and techniques to create their own original art works. Ages 6-10 or 10-14.
Famous Artists II
Students will find inspiration from artists Georgia O’Keefe, Henri Matisse, and Vincent Van Gogh while using a variety of drawing and painting supplies and techniques to create their own original art works. Ages 6-10 or 10-14.
Famous Artists III
Students will find Inspiration from artist Sandra Silberzweig, Alma Thomas and Pablo Picasso while using a variety of drawing and painting supplies and techniques to create their own original art works. Ages 6-10 or 10-14.
Art from Around the World I
Students will explore traditional art from Mexico and Japan while using a variety of drawing and painting techniques to create their own original art works. Ages 6-10 or 10-14.
Art from Around the World II
Students will explore traditional art from China, Africa and Australia while using a variety of drawing and painting techniques to create their own original art works.
Ages 6-10 or 10-14.
Advanced Drawing
Students will learn techniques on perspective, shading, composition and detail while creating their own original works of art. Ages 10-14.
My Little and Me
Details coming for Mommy and Me and Daddy and Me type classes.
Hand Sewing and Felting
Students will learn basic hand sewing techniques to create an ugly doll and felting techniques to create a hand critter. Ages 10-14.
Drawing & Painting I, II and III
These classes focus on drawing and painting techniques for a variety of original works of art. Each level will focus on different projects. They need not be taken in order.
Ages 6-10 or 10-14.
Exploring Abstract Art
Students will focus on creating a variety of abstract art works where the emphasis is on line or color rather than a particular subject. Ages 6-10 or 10-14.
Air Dry Clay
Students will use Model Magic to create a variety of small sculptures. Ages 6-10 or 10-14.
Whimsical Windows & Wine
Come enjoy a fun night of painting an antique window while sipping wine with friends. (Price includes the antique window)
The Art of Color
Students will create a variety of art projects that focus on different applications of blending and mixing color. Ages 6-10 or 10-14.
Art Inspired By Animals
Students will use a variety of supplies and techniques to create art focused on animals. Ages 6-10 or 10-14.
Art Inspired By Nature
Students will use a variety of supplies and techniques to creat art focused on things found in nature. Ages 6-10 or 10-14.
Copper Tooling
The craft of selectively raising sections of sheet metal in order to create relief sculpture.
Exploring Printmaking
Students will use a variety of supplies and techniques to create multiple prints.
Ages 6-10 or 10-14.
Adult Class Descriptions
All supplies are included in the price. No experience necessary.

Bring a picture of your pet to paint while sharing laughs and beverages.

About the Owner/Teacher Katy Scarmardo
I am an Elementary Art Teacher in Kenosha Unified School District with 28 years of teaching experience in both WI and IL. I have a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I am certified to teach grades K-12 in Wisconsin. I also have extensive training in Social and Emotional Teaching practices and Trauma Responsive teaching. I am a lifelong Kenosha resident and the mother of three amazing children that have grown into successful, happy adults. I have dedicated my life to not only being the best mother I can be but also a teacher who has shared my passion for the arts and my ability to build strong relationships with my students throughout this wonderful city for decades. In 2022 I was recognized by Kenosha Unified School District for being an outstanding educator with the honor of receiving a “Spark Award”.. I hope to create art with you sonn!
